Clifton S. Dy, Director, Index Development
Clifton S. Dy is Director of Index Development for Dow Jones Indexes where he leads the research and development of all new Dow Jones indexes, as well as customized indexes. He was instrumental in building the methodology of the Dow Jones Global Indexes and the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index. He manages index development teams in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Mr. Dy joined Dow Jones & Co. in 1992 as a database statistician and held various roles of increasing managerial responsibility in both index development and operations. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Dy has played a key role in enhancing data quality assurance procedures and systems; overseeing and designing best practices to move new indexes into production; and developing guidelines and methodology rules for numerous index offerings. In 1999 he served as Manager of Quantitative Analysis for STOXX Limited in Zurich, a joint venture of Dow Jones & Company, Deutsche Boerse and SIX Swiss Exchange until Dow Jones sold its stake in 2009. There he was responsible for the development of customized indexes derived from the Dow Jones STOXX indexes as well as daily maintenance for the pan-European index family.
Mr. Dy has been in his current position since May 2006.
Mr. Dy received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He resides in Yardley, PA.
