NEW YORK, Aug. 3, 2006 — Dow Jones Indexes today announced that Michael A. Petronella, president of Dow Jones Indexes/Ventures, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Copyright Clearance Center, Inc., the world’s premier provider of copyright licensing and compliance solutions for the information content industry.
“It is an honor to serve on the Board of this prestigious organization, which protects the copyrights of millions of text-based works belonging to hundreds of thousands of publishers and authors worldwide. At Dow Jones Indexes, we develop, maintain and license indexes to underlie investment products. Ventures — the reprint and permission services unit of Dow Jones & Co. — is responsible for the reprinting and copyright clearance for Dow Jones’ publications. I look forward to using my expertise in these two areas to support the mission of Copyright Clearance Center,” Mr. Petronella said.

Mr. Petronella has been president of Dow Jones Indexes/Ventures since 2003. Prior to his current role, he served as managing director for the indexing group since 1997 when it became an official business unit of Dow Jones & Co. He has been with the company in various finance positions for more than 30 years.
Mr. Petronella is a member of the supervisory board of STOXX Ltd., a joint venture of Deutsche Boerse AG, Dow Jones & Co. and SWX Swiss Exchange.
